They say being green isn’t always easy…and it’s TRUE!
It’s not easy…it’s not perfect…!
This week’s question was inspired by the fact that going green can have it’s slip up’s. We don’t always live up to our expections. Luckily, with this going green thing there are set rules. No one is perfect. Everyone’s journey is different…to each their own!
Tuesday night, I fell asleep with the lights, t.v. and computer on. I was sooo tired that I passed out and didn’t wake until Clark woke me up at 4AM. It happened the the week before last too. I’m sure it’s happened in the past. Not something I want to make a habit of that’s for sure.
AND- I did a couple loads of laundry before 6pm on Monday. I was trying to get caught up. Waiting till after 6pm if I’m behind on the laundry can be hard for me to do.
Oh! Oh! I’m really starting to get pissed that my dishes are covered in film and are not completely clean after being ran throught the dishwasher. It seems like such a waste of water to me when I have to re-do the dishes. I’ve used just about all the eco friendly dishwashing detergents and they all seem to leave a residue. The Method Smart Tabs work well but still leave some crumbles behind. I’m about to give up on this!
I won’t – it’s tempting though. Hoping to perfect a homemade recipe. Please share if your homemade dishwashing detergent works!!!!
That’s my eco confession for the week.

@pcanella I threw out a can of pop instead of recycling it. haha
@donielle I use Lime Away. But only on the outside of my house where the sprinklers hit my slider. (our water has tons of lime in it)
@Piecemaker We consume a lot of meat products in my house. A LOT. Makes our footprint much bigger (never mind waistlines)!
@suzannetobias I love paper plates. Sorry.

Have you tried vinegar as a rinse agent? It works wonders for me!

try using citric acid, easily found, of not use a lemonade mix, just a little and they will come out clean. I have the problem with my homemade dishwasher powder, vinegar just doesnt cut it.

Method works the best for me too, love that they are just putting them in a bag now. I find if I put it on heated rinse they come out fine. My dishwasher is an energy star and use just 6 gal. of water.
I wash all day on Saturday, we line dry most of the clothes and with 5 kids still living at home, I could never do it after 6 p.m.
We did just take out our front lawn though, it is a work in progress, but we planted veggies and flower around my new white picket fence.

We use Ecover dish washer tabs. We’ve tried Method and thought they were okay but Ecover is better.
Thank you for telling me about TJ Maxx for the organic baby clothes. I’ll check it out next time I’m near one.
