Hello bloggies!
How are ya?
Sorry for delay in announcing the contest winner.
I hope you’ll forgive me. Between teething, birthday planning/projects, house chores and what not, life is a leeetttle crazy!
Or, maybe I am, for staying up WAY past my bedtime to get this up. Such is the life.
Tomorrow Today, I have a TON of things I want to get done for the eco tot’s birthday on EARTH DAY.
There’s going to be an EARTH DAY, BIRTHDAY celebration going on here. You can count on it!!
Shall we get to the winner, already?
Here’s Baby C or “squints” as we’ve been calling him, lately, preparing to draw a name…
and the winner is….
Congrats, Julie! Enjoy your chocolate truffle goodness!
the eco tot harvested red leaf lettuce today yesterday, along with some spinach leaves that he and I both ate fresh out of the garden!
He loves it when we allow him to do the “picking”.
We also harvested our first radishes and Swiss chard last week.
Our asparagus plants have started to “fern” which apparently is a good thing.
Soon were going to transplant kale, tomato, and pepper sprouts! The sprouts are still managing life indoors.
*chomp* How can you resist a fresh bouquet of lettuce?
Tristan (the eco tot) suggested we pick flowers.
He was actually admiring the new blooms on our rose bush and asked to cut them.
He grabbed his fakey medical pair of scissors… I grabbed a real pair, and cut just below where he wanted to cut.
This method worked for him because it made him feel like he was doing the cutting.
I’m always amazed by how much beauty appreciates.
He likes to call the fuzzy weed at the bottom pf the mini bouquet “wheat”.
I mentioned it resembled the grain in a lot of ways so since then it stuck.
He was really upset when the neighbors mowed this down…
seriously… he frowned and everything… almost in tears.
He didn’t understand why someone would destroy something so beautiful…
it broke my heart! But, I guess this is why he was born on Earth Day by default…
my future treehugger … turning the three.
Can I close my eyes and make TIME stop.
I’m JUST about done with my birthday sewing projects.
SUPER EXCITED about them and can’t wait to share.
I’m trying to keep a busy skedge to avoid tv time.
So far, so good! We even read books outside today.
Which isn’t something we normally do.
and in honor of Earth Day we read, The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss of course!
Getting outdoors and exploring nature hasn’t been too challenging yet.
More rain is in the forecast. We’ll see, about that.
Rain or shine an adventure awaits!
anyhoo…
We have a few birthday traditions we started since Tristan was born such as reading “The Lorax” and “Happy Birthday To You” both by Dr. Seuss.
What birthday traditions do you carry on year after year?
P.S.
Earth Day giveaways coming your way!
Now, if you’ll excuse me… I think I’ll go to bed now ( it’s 1:30 AM).
Hello there!

Hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday! We took off last Tuesday evening for Trinity. We stayed with our friends who own the Bonanza King Resort and also with family who drove in from Washington. We had a great time. I apologize for neglecting things here. I’m still in the process of a makeover and many other things. Time has been such an issue! I hate to sound like a broken record- I know I’ve been telling you this now for over a month.
Thank you for being patient with me while I take on one thing at a time. The holiday rush is already here and I’m excited about Baby C’s first Christmas…and the spirit of! I’m looking forward to this holiday season. We wanted to stop for a Christmas tree on our way down from Coffee Creek and didn’t get that opportunity because we were exhausted and wanted to get home. 9 hours in a car can drive you a little batty! We made it though and it’s good to be back.
After singing Old McDonald a million times and pointing out the California farmland and animals, discussing our trip and other distractions we survived. It was a LONG drive though! Baby C was asleep for most of it and did get unhappy along the way but we didn’t have to make as many stops as we had thought. We experienced our first 14oo mile round trip with Baby C and I’d say he’s our little traveling man just like T!
I attempted to take a ton of pics but still forget to take some important ones. O’well. That’s life in the mama lane!
Oh! and please don’t hate me but I’m going to extend t he Retro Razor contest till Dec 14th!
I’ll post pictures separately- promise!
Be sure to stay tuned for an upcoming interview with an awesome eco entrepreneur that you’ll be amazed by!
