Before I started vlogging I honestly had no idea how many batteries we might of gone through (A LOT, I’m sure!). The Flip camera kills batteries fast- a major drawback about the Flip. Myeco guilt was killing me ever time I changed the Flip’s batteries. It seemed like I was changing out batteries on the constant. It was gut wrenching each time I replaced out batteries.
After expressing the guilt I’d been feeling to my dad one day he turned around went into his office and came back with a rechargeable battery charger. My hero! I couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought of it earlier. I took the charger home and was ready to start a new eco life using rechargeable batteries.
I mean just look at that awful picture above! It’s amazing when you think of how many things around our home require batteries. Having rechargeable batteries makes a huge difference for the planet and your wallet. I no longer change out new batteries I replace them with charged batteries. What a relief!

A Little Goes A Long Way!

People often wonder how I keep up with my green ideals and with trying to live simply. The idea of going out of my way to toss a CFL into my e-waste box or tearing out my front lawn because of a water shortage may seem inconceivable to some. For me, each small step is hopefully creating a bigger action. In my efforts to reduce waste, shop secondhand and refuse plastic it all has a root cause. The root cause, obviously being this precious planet.
It’s hard to realize just how important it is to conserve resources when we live in a country that constantly consumes, creates and tosses away. The impact we have on this environment and how it affects us is often overlooked. The notion of having a lighter footstep is sometimes just that a “notion” rather than an action. How do we continue to share the beauty of nature for generations to come? I certainly want to my boys to show their children the light through the trees as I tried to capture above. The thought that they could even be the same ones is amazing to think about! Through conservation we can continue to enjoy and explore the many benefits nature has to offer…
