Ah, Christmas! What a wonderful time of year. The spirit of giving and spreading the holiday cheer. A holiday that includes many cupfuls of  hot cocoa + marshmallow cream and cookies TOO, right? Oh! and we mustn’t forget about gingerbread houses, nutcrackers and ribbon candy! All the great traditions that are carried on each year. From caroling, paying it forward, checking out the neighborhood lights, and all the baking… it’s no wonder Christmas is the best time of the year.  Are you a traditionalist? I am.

Blog Action Day, 2009: Climate Change

Today is Blog Action Day.

It is an annual event held every year that unites bloggers to unite in posting about the same issue on the same day. This year’s theme is Climate Change!

Climate Change is a very important topic right now: International Day of Climate Action is on October 24th, 2009.

On the 24th of October people from all over the world plan to rally about global warming, in hopes of sending out a message regarding the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. In December the world’s leaders will meet in Copenhagen to discuss the climate and amend the current climate treaty.  Scientists say that 350 parts per million is the safe limit for humanity. Currently, we are at 390ppm! The message on the 24th will be 350. Let’s get together and take action! It’s time to put pressure on the leaders to create a just climate treaty that meets the latest science.

Nobel Peace Prize Winner and President Barack Obama has said that climate change is an urgent threat, and now is the time for him to lead the United States in confronting the climate crisis.  This is a chance for people around the world and in the United States to join together in telling President Obama that we want him to lead the United States in taking bold and significant action to reduce greenhouse gasses. Time is running out, and our planet can’t afford to wait.

Take action today- be part of those who are asking the President to act on climate change- add your name!

Ultimate Blog Party 2009

Hi there!! I’m Leslie- otherwise known as La Mama Naturale’. Thank you for taking the time to stop by my blog. I spend a lot of my time here. This is my second year attending the UBP and last year I had such a great time meeting new bloggers and making new friendships. In case you aren’t in the know… 5minutesformom is hosting the Ultimate Blog Party! A chance to connect and get together for a whole week- March 20- 27th! Join in on fun!

Now that you know what’s going on in the blogosphere this next week …you’ll want to blog hop around and get this party started! I’m currently pregnant so they’re won’t be any veggie bloody mary’s being served at this party but I’d love to serve you a green smoothie instead. Packed with kale, kiwi, apple, a banana and some blueberries! You’ll get your daily serving of greens and fruit. Yum! It’s one of my favorite drinks.

You’ll find ways to go green, posts on natural mothering, environmentalism, crunchy parenting tips and ideas, and a sometimes posts that involve my lil guy Tristan or my sweetheart for life, Tyler.  You’ll also find reviews and giveaways on eco friendly products.

My husband Tyler and I live a small town in Southern California. We’re raising our 23 month old son in the what we consider the country and have another boy on the way due anytime now!  We have two chickens that lay eggs, Henrietta & Dixie, 2 dogs Heineken & Durgen and 4 horses that live with the in-laws- R.C., China, Chester and Rosie. We try to live sustainably and “Give Back To Nature” as much as we can.

We cloth diaper, try to eat organic foods whenever possible- we garden in the summer, we believe in attachment parenting, I loved baby wearing my son, Tristan in a sling or carrier- and can’t wait to wear my soon to be son- Clark! We make our own butter, mayo, bread, granola etc. basically anything that can be homemade as we try to avoid eating processed foods. For us frugal and thrifty living is a must and we enjoy saving the money in the process.

I’m a hippie, tree hugger, crunchy mama at heart and love all things that include nature, like being outdoors and going on a hike with my camera alongside. Photography is one of my favorite past times, as well as sewing. Although, I haven’t been able to do much sewing recently…I’m hoping that will change soon.

I hope you’ll grab a seat and hang out for few- I know we can learn from each other and it’d be great to get to know each other more. One of the greatest things about the bloggy world is learning from one another.

I hope you enjoy my blog!

Leave me a comment, so that I can stop by and party at your pad too! Hopefully, we can became friends!!!!  :)
