The other day when while shopping at Trader Joe’s. Just one of my favorite places to grocery shop aside from The Whole Foods Market! I was browsing through the aisles as usual and picking up my essentials when I came across the toiletry aisle and saw the 100% recycled facial tissue packs! I’ve seen them before but since it’s the season of sniffles and coughs I figured I should pick up some. Plus, being a mom you never know when you’ll need a tissue to wipe your little one’s hands or face with. I was amazed at the price $1.49 for an 8 pack. I couldn’t pass it up. We’ve had the sniffles lately and I hate buying regular tissue since I know it can’t be recycled.

You might think that because it’s recycled it’s not as soft as the leading brands but it is! It doesn’t break apart easily either. It’s is strong, soft and the thickness is 3- Ply.  For the low cost, you really can’t beat it. The only thing that bother’s me is the fact that it’s wrapped in plastic that cannot be recycled. I wish they’d come in recycled cardboard boxes that you could toss into your recycle bin. I’d feel so much better about the purchase. Nevertheless, it is recycled paper and for that reason alone I feel good about it. Maybe, Trader Joe’s will start manufacturing them in recycled paper boxes…??? Just a suggestion.

10 tissues come in a pack and it’s recycled without chlorine bleaching. Another great perk. So, while I’m blowing my nose or wiping a runny nose I know that chemicals aren’t being leached into my skin. If you have the sniffles and sneezes you might want to stop in your local Trader Joe’s and check these out!Another staple we have lying around our home while battling the germs is Clean Well, All- Natural Hand Sanitizer. I was fortunate enough to recieve some samples from the Eco Mom Alliance and LOVE this stuff. It’s alcohol free and made with an all natural citrus herb scent. The scent is not too strong and is uplifting. I like it. It’s safe for kids and the environment. It’s the perfect sustainable solution. The 1 fluid ounce spritz bottles contain 225 + sprays. It’s made with Ingenium which is an all natural antimicrobial that meets EPA and FDA standards. No artificial chemical agents such as Triclosan or Benzalkonium Chloride.

Clean Well kill 99.9% of germs such as E-Coli and Salmonella. It does not contain any poisons either. It’s 100% green!! It’s also certified cruelty free and is not tested on animals. It does not leave you hands feeling dry like the alcohol sanitizers do. Your skin feels moisturized with the from the Aloe it contains. I like it because throughout the day I can spritz my sons hands with it -especially, after we’ve let a public place! During, the time of need when we’re suffering from colds it’s handy to have. You can spritz it on as many times as you want and know it’s doing it’s job without harming your system. I’ve been spritzing away lately since the germs are still lingering. I know Clean Well has had an impact on my son’s recovery which is why this product will definitely remain in our green cold care kit- right along with the recycled facial tissue pocket pack!

What’s in your cold care kit?

If you’re using recycled tissues, what is it recycled from, exactly??

We actually use instead of tissues- cloth wipes. We have a set just for noses made out of super soft bamboo and then we also have them for baby buts out of sherpa.

Where can you buy the Clean Well products? Trader Joes (I hope, I hope.) I have hand sanitiser (sp) stashed in the cars (public reststop restrooms – ick!) and in the bathrooms for cold season. Now that I know it exists, I’d like to use one that’s a little kinder to the envirnonment.

    Rebecca,
    I believe it’s recycled from other tissue paper- it’s 25% Post-Consumer Content.

    Alaina,
Cloth wipes are the best alternative as you can use and keep re-using! We use cloth wipes in our home for diaper changes and spills. Great tip! :)

    Condo Blues,
You can purchase Clean Well at Target and Whole Foods Market…I didn’t see it at T.J.’s tho’! :)
