A Greener Alternative
Have you ever thought about the chemicals being used in the standard dry cleaning process? After you’ve come home with several of your work clothes from the cleaners; you’d think they were clean, right?! Clean, as in non-toxic!
Studies have shown recently, that residue from the dry cleaning process can be found in clothing and are considered toxic. These unhealthy chemicals are known to cause allergies and pollute the planet. The toxic chemicals being used in the ordinary dry cleaning process, eventually make there way into our water system harming the environment. The leading dry cleaning chemical is known as perchloroethylene which is known to cause cancer. The question now becomes, can clothes be cleaned without all the chemicals? Yes!
Since, May of 2007, Manoj Patel, the owner, of Dry Clean Express- Organic Dry Cleaning, has responded to changes and developments in the dry cleaning industry by using cutting edge technology that eliminates the use of chemicals. This technology known as “Wet Cleaning” not only rids the use of toxic chemicals, but the process reduces the amount of water and energy that would normally be used versus normal dry cleaning.
It is considered an environmentally safer alternative to dry cleaning. This revolutionary approach uses water as the solvent rather than toxic chemicals. Water and 100% biodegradable, organic cleaners (soaps and conditioners). The high tech machines used in the Wet Cleaning process are computer controlled in order to cut back on the amount of water and energy being used.
For instance, each fabric type only requires a certain amount of water and cleaners for the Wet Cleaning process to perform. “At home, a 20lb. load of clothes uses up to 60lbs. of water- Wet Cleaning uses 35-40% less water, stated Manoj”.
In comparison, to the standard machines at a dry cleaners, the emissions put into the atmosphere are much lower. Wet Cleaning reduces the amount by 70%! Besides, the fact that Wet Cleaning is considered eco-friendly, the benefits for your clothing are improved. For starters, it extends the life of the clothing, it brightens colors, eliminates 100% of lingering odors, and softens the fabric.
The benefits of Wet Cleaning are tremendous.
