There seems to be a lot of great content going around the blogosphere which is why this post seems so appropriate. My mind is always whirling and swirling with ideas and blog topics. I have an ongoing list. I wish I had time to write about everything but it’s just not possible. So, I’m going to share with you some topics that I’ve wanted to write about and some that I just thought were ROCKIN’. Okeydokey?

So, here we go…

Pregnant? Want to work as a spokesperson for the BPA industry…I’ve been meaning to share this article with you that I wrote over at Eco Child’s Play- Then go to EWG and PROTEST!!!!

My husband has been doing so well in cutting back on his soda consumption. I’m really proud of him. He was drinking 2-3 sodas a day and know it’s maybe 2-3 a wk. if that. I considered at one point buying him a soda making machine. Just the other day I saw a post to make homemade soda and was inspired by the recipe that I think we’re going to give it a go! What about make your own vanilla extract!!! Incredible. I love being domesticated and these recipes give me motivation to put on my apron.

I was so happy to when I heard about Aveda and recycling plastic caps. I’m bummed when I have to toss the caps into the trash but like Deborah, from Pure Mothers, I’m also guilty of tossing the entire bottle and cap into my recycling bin. I too, feel like it should be in their hands last.  Join Aveda and start recycling caps!

Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2009 marked the official kick-off of Aveda’s Caps Recycling Program—our powerful grassroots effort to help save marine life by reducing the amount of caps littering our beaches and oceans.

Join the Recycle Caps with Aveda campaign. Bring your plastic caps into an Aveda Store and feel great knowing that they will be repurposed into new Aveda packaging and kept from entering our waterways and harming wildlife.

I recently read an article about Borax and it left me wondering if I’ll ever use it again. I use borax in my laundry especially for cleaning cloth dipes and have used it to clean our mattress. I’m going to do a little further digging…what do you think?

Eco Cutey Photo Contest going on at Inhabitots…check it out! I’m going to enter in my Eco Cutey’s!

My mother in law uses a Swiffer…do you use one? Here’s a few alternatives!

It’s summertime…don’t have an ice maker? I {heart} these stainless steel ice cube trays!!! Since we have an ice maker it looks like I’ll have keep my eyes peeled for the stainless steel Popsicle molds! Sweet. :)

Oh! and So you know- I’ve been ECing (Elimination Communicating) with Clark. So far, it’s gone smoothly and we’re only doing it Part-time. I plan to write more about our EC journey as we go along. There’s nothing more gratifying then watching your 2 month old pee and/or poo in the potty. It’s surprising and fantastic. I love the concept and can’t wait to see how this will later turn out. Look for an informative post regarding EC coming soon!!  :)

I know I’m missing a few points…anyway…

What’s on your mind?

Eco Funtabulous Feature Friday~

The end of the week is here! Hooray, for Friday’s!! Finally, starting to feel like we’ve recovered from the trip… We truly miss northen California and feel so strongly about moving there! There’s so much more to offer and it’s a completely different world than SoCal. The people are different…life is different…it’s definitely greener on the other side!!! LOL! I miss being near the forest and taking in the ocean air. The best of both worlds. The Redwood trees aremagnificent beings that every time I see them I forgot how massive and enchanting they are. One night is was so clear while we camped along the 101 near Fortuna, Ca I looked up and saw EVERY star imaginable and the Milky Way. It was incredible. I didn’t want to stop looking up. Anyway, before I get lost…Northern California is into being green, healthy and happy. I love this. There’s something more to NorCal that makes the hubs and I feel a strongly about it. When we were leaving we both agreed that we felt like we were being pulled back- our energies were being magnitized. Okay, sounds weird…but it’s true!

As you all know, while I was out I featured guest posts and some fantastic interviews with eco companies! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I want to express a big THANKS to all the blogs and eco companies who participated!!! A big big thanks. Will I be doing this in the future? U-BET. Getting to know other perspectives from different bloggers and learning about what eco companies are doing to protect our planet.

There are still a few things in the works at RYD- and I will keep you up to date as it progresses…. I leave it to your imagination for now! ; )

If you’ve been following me on Twitter- you’ll know that I burned myself…yep! Hot oil + thumb, index and middle = blister on thumb and index- Fortunately, it’s not too serious but my thumb looks really fugly and the blister on it looks like a growth of sorts, it’s purple and gross! The little blister on my index and my middle finger survived with the least damage. To point of my story is- thank goodness for medicinal Aloe in the bay window and Burt’s Bees Res-Q ointment. Both relieved the pain and kept the burn at bay. Since Burt’s Bees was taken over by Clorox- I’ve been hesitant to purchase their products. Burt’s Bees was one of the first all natural skin, body, and face product that I used for years and years. I love the Herbal Ointment too- it’s the best for bikini rash- use after you shave the bikini area - it works like a charm. Keeps the bumbs back and redness away!  I love it. It’s also great for sensitive skin conditions such as- Excema. Oh! and their herbal insect repellant is the best! It definitely keeps the mosquito’s away and it smells good too! It doesn’t smell like chemicals! I’m a huge fan of their products- I know they sold out to the big boys and I have my suspicions. They’re are plenty of all natural companies to choose from but Burt’s Bees still gets an A+ for performance on my end.

Well, it’s been a few days over a month since the Unplugged Challenge began. How are you doing? I gave up blow drying my hair and my bread machine. I’ve also cut back on using appliances and making sure unplug them when not in use. I haven’t missed my blow dryer much- it actually saves me tons of time in the morning because I don’t have to style my hair. I’ve noticed it’s a bit healthier and has more shine to it.  Speaking of which, I’ve been contemplating the “no-poo” idea and asked a question during the Sprig on Washington Post.com where they discussed Green Beauty and Living. The Green Girls also asked a question about eco friendly tanning options- check it out! The bread machine is looking very sad lately but I’ve been satisfied with other options like tortillas! I’m still motivated to continue being unplugged! How about you?

Our garden survived while we were gone and we’ve been enjoying the abdundance of produce we’re getting- zuchinni, eggplant, cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, chile peppers (3 varieties), and oinions. We’ve been making Ratatoullie like there’s no tomorrow over quinoa and also made a frittata with all the same ingredients and it’s GREAT having chickens. The eggs are delicious and I love getting the double yolkers!

It’s such a great feeling to know your food is coming from your own backyard. While we were up north the hubs and I drank smoothies that had blended oatmeal and almonds in them- either, or. Hubs had the strawberry and oats and I had the blackberries and almonds…delish!!! I tried it this morning with mixed berries and even added spinach and it was good.  A clever idea, I thought.

I’ve wanted to share this with you for awhile…I’ve been using the new eco friendly laundry soap they’re carrying exclusively at Costco called Wintree. I’m really digging it. My clothes smell really fresh (it’s Lavendar scented) and feel soft too! I’ve been happy with it so far. It’s super concentrated so that you can get the most out of it and it’s safe for the environment.  I love that Costco is going more and more green!!!

Oh! and before I forget- the blocks above are made by Uncle Goose – Tristan received them for his first birthday and loves to stack them up and knock them down – can you say boy? They’re so cute and colorful- wooden- and have numbers, letters, symbols, and animal prints on their sides. They have a waffle/cookie print design on one side of all the blocks. They’re pretty unique. They come in a knifty little sack to keep them in or you can get the cute pull wagon that costs extra. I know my son will get good use out of these blocks and they’re a great item to pass down.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. It’s good to be back.

P.S. Hubs thinks we’re having a garage sale tomorrow…he’s been sorting out the garage since we’ve been back and has started a few piles- Freecycle, donate, and sale! Good  grief!!!

P.P.S.
