My precious darling is STILL teething! It’s been 6 wks!!!

And today, my tooth hurts! I’m due for a dental appointment that I keep putting off- the dreaded ROOT CANAL. Yes, that’d me! *sigh*

I can’t put it off any longer. I need to get it over with. I’m actually really comfortable at the dentist. It helps that Dr. Li is really nice I’ve been going to him since I was 8 years old. He’s a great guy. I was once part of the “no-cavity” club but those days are long gone. O’well!

Today, I have so much do I don’t even know where to begin! Yikes. Tristan is at my parents and I should be utilizing my time wisely (this counts).

Like a bad mommy,  I missed Clark’s 4 month appt. last week… I completely forget to write it down on my calendar. Oopsie. They sent me a letter threatnening to charge me $50 buckaroo’s! Garsh. It was one of those things I had totally thought about to but never confirmed my suspicions.

Clorox Deserves A Spanking!

clorox

OMG! Have you seen the new Clorox bleach commercial? Count yourself lucky if you haven’t. Their new slogan is ” useful in many ways” and suggests using bleach to clean out baby bottles!! WTF! Baby bottles? As I listened and watched with shock I could not believe they actually depicted a person rinsing out a baby bottle that contained a solution of bleach and putting onto the drying rack.

What I can’t stop thinking about is the possible residue that could potentially get left behind if not rinsed completely. The commercial suggests to use a tbsp. of bleach in a gallon of water- soak baby bottles for 2 minutes and then allow to dry. Where’s the final rinse???   What an unsafe scenario.   Bleach in your precious newborn baby’s mouth? I think not!

There’s actually two versions of the commercial. One that just suggests using it by giving the ingredient recipe and the other touts their new slogan while mentioning other “useful” ways to use it.  Clorox must be feeling the green shift! They figure us mom’s are an easy target since we’re the ones who reach into our wallets. Not this mom, thank you very much!

How does a company stoop so low? I mean think about it,  do you really need bleach to clean out a baby bottle? Last I checked,  boiling baby bottles in hot water kills germs. I even know moms that use a crockpot to sterlize their baby bottles and don’t use an ounce of bleach. I mean c’mon Clorox! We now you’re product is a posion. I’m pretty sure you’re one of the reason’s we have  posion control centers; in case accidents happen- because afterall toddlers are curious.I’m completely disgusted that Clorox bleach is advocating the use of bleach in an infant product- especially one that happens to be their main source nutrition. Let’s discuss the dangers of bleach- shall we:

How Does Large-Scale Solar Power Work

Did you know that seventy minutes of sunlight is equal to one year of global energy consumption? [United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)].

Researchers are looking to the southwestern U.S. to be an enormous solar energy region as we look for ways to move beyond fossil fuels. How can we generate megawatts of power for consumers with the sun? There are two types of major large-scale solar power (“LSSP”) technology: thermal electric systems and photovoltaic systems.

The thermal electric systems combine heat transfer fluid (“HTF”), which is oil, gases, water/steam or molten salt and heat it up to 1,000 degrees fahrenheit, and push a generator and an engine to generate AC electricity. These include parabolic trough systems, dish/engine systems, solar power tower systems and compact linear fresnel systems. Note a previous blog post.

Photovoltaic systems (most of us know as solar panels) on the other hand, generate DC electricity directly using either concentrating photovoltaic installations or large-scale (non-concentrating) PV systems. There are some facilities operating now that have an output as high as 15 megawatts. What can large scale Solar Systems offer the world?

Be A Green Bookworm: Read Used!

Last week, before I left for vacation someone offered a “big box of children’s books” on Freecycle. I couldn’t resist. Especially, when the description revealed the box mainly contained toddler books. The box was full of great books. He loves the Three Stre-e-etchy Frogs & Ten Little Ladybugs books. Each book goes for $10.95!

There were also a lot of Weekly Reader books inside which are excellent hardback reads. I grew up reading Weekly Reader. Books aren’t cheap and neither are book clubs.  When I see an offer like that on Freecycle it’s worth taking advantage of .  You never knoow what you’ll end up with – it’s a gamble but for the most part… I’ve always been lucky.
